Science
Scientific understanding of the world is continually changing. The Lutheran Church of Australia teaches that the universe and everything in it was created by God. All good things flow from our Creator and scientific discovery does not conflict with Christian theology. In fact, belief in God enhances our understanding that the heavens and the earth are created in a complex and orderly way and science allows us to embrace this.
Scientific ways of thinking and solving problems are powerful tools for people to use as they seek explanations of how things work, or to understand why things are the way they are. Science education prepares students to make sense of God's world by engaging them in authentic tasks that focus on the processes involved in investigating, understanding and communicating.
At Faith, Science is an active experience! Based on the Primary Investigations resource, Science encourages all children to fulfil a role vital to the success of each experiment or activity. Science involves maximum participation and uses a 'hands on' approach with a range of materials to explore life concepts.
Students are involved in note taking, reporting, presenting and discussing as a result of the lessons. The investigations undertaken are designed to achieve the Science core learning outcomes in the Queensland School Curriculum Council Science Syllabus.
